Bespoke Extra Large Edo Seat (unpainted) : 300 cms long
Image# 7 of 7
The design of my Edo seat is based on a feature found on a wooden balustrade at Katsura Imperial Villa in Kyoto. The seat back is reminiscent of the sun and the suns rays rising over the Japanese landscape and incorporates the simple rectangle common in Japanese furniture and architecture.
The Large Edo seat makes a superb focal point at the end of a vista but looks equally good in an intimate area of the garden or as seating in a reception area in an office or restaurant.
The Edo seat has a strong Japanese influence and is named after the Edo period in Japan. The Edo period was equivalent to the Georgian period in Britain, and much garden development occurred during this period. Many gardens still remain from this period throughout Japan, especially in and around Kyoto.
